I understand that my usb aattached usb hard drive is the reason the biginning of songs are sometimes skipped for a few seconds. Would a eSATA powered drive work better to remedy this problem? My seagate and toshiba unpower drives both have the issue

I use a powered USB hub with two 500-GB drives and two thumb-drives plugged into it. No issues, with BDP-1 Loony Toon. Don't know about BDP-2.

my thumb drive does not skip, but it has limited storage
I'm trying to find a large storage device that doesn't have the skipping problem
I don't want to buy a powered eSATA drive to find out it does the same thing

Please see my thread, I have same issues.
I think that your issue is the similar. It is not hard drive related. I use internal SSD. It occurs every time when sample rate is changed from higher to lower value. I've spent several hours to reproduce it. And I expect that Bryston support will find a couple of minutes to reply.

I thought it was the drive becasue back in the Audio Circle forum Chris thought it was the drive.
Now after switching back and forth from one sample rate to another , I realize that you're right.
It least I know what it is. Now is Bryston able to fix it in the firmware?
Good detective work

A few other customers have reported this, one of which sent me some wav files. These wav files have been the only way to reproduce the issue at the office., before receiving these wav files we had been unable to reproduce the issue with our own high res material. It appears that it maybe a limitation with the SPDIF protocol, not sure if it can be fixed.
Cheers,
Chris

Hi Chris,
Is it possible to implement in MM something like “Insert silence between sample rate change” option in Decibel? This seems to be the only way to fix the issue. I guess this requires patching MPD...
