Assigning Scratch Disk - Cover Art

Hi:

I've just updated to S2.34 2017-06-20, and am attemping to use a USB thumb drive as a scratch disk.

The drive is formatted as fat32 and has a single partition.

When attempting to assign the drive in the "Disk Information" tab, selecting the device, and clicking scratch, it returns a "Can not use a system volume as the scratch drive" error.

So two questions:
What settings should be used when formatting the USB thumbdrive (ie partition type, use of partitions, and partition type code)?
Is the scratch space still used by MM to download and store cover art? I have my music stored on a NAS. Is there a requirement that the cover art be in the same directory tree as the music?

Thanks!

The first three entries are the BDP's internal drive, (the drive and the two partitions on the drive). This message should appear only when your trying to assign the scratch drive listing to the BDP's firmware drive. If this isn't the case you should place the BDP into service mode and email us the service id so we can see why the BDP is mistaking your thumb drive as the system drive.
