My BDP1 has been idle for several months while my SP3 was being repaired, followed by failure of my OWC disc rack and finally by death of my cable modem. All hardware now back up but I can't get the BDP1 to connect to the "net". After rebooting, instead of getting an IP address, the display reads "eth0 Offline: eth0". Firmware S2.05 2014-08-18.

Hi Steve,
The first thing to do is re-set the ethernet settings on the BDP-1. Press the right arrow, go down to settings, then down to "reset network" then press the right arrow again. Presuming that your BDP-1 is connected to your router with a known good cable, this should reset the BDP-1 to DHCP mode and allow it to be assigned an address by the router.
Thanks for the response...I had tried the network reset a few days ago without success; tried again and eth0 still offline. Tried "global" reset, still no luck.
