I installed an internal hard drive in my BDP-2. Do I need to wait for the BOT to rip music to this drive? Does Bryston have a how to video?

We really have touched much of the ripping portion of the firmware yet, so far we have been primarily working on the playback side of it which has just been finalized today. Firmware capable of ripping audio cd's will be released shortly but will be limited to just the automated method with no interface.

The automated method will rip (backup) and audio cd:
*in flac
*to the drive with the most storage
*with a file folder structure of /Artist/Album/01 Name of track.flac
*attempt to identify the cd using cddb
*attempt to get cover art from amazon

The web interface we will begin working on tomorrow will allow you to customize the above
*choose from flac, wav and mp3 (more to come in future releases)
*choose the destination drive, along with a sub folder
*customize the file folder structure
*edit tag data if cddb is missing or incorrect
*select cover art from amazon and google

There is no need to use a BOT, s standard USB optical drive that appears as mass storage device should also work. Keep in mind Apple USB Super Drive is proprietary and won't work, also keep in mind that if the drive is bus powered that a BDP-1 has USB ports limited to 500mA and the most we have drawn off of two USB ports on the back of a BDP-2 using a prototype BOT-1 is 1.6amps (or 800mA each).

Cheers,
Chris

Dear Chris
Will the Rip feature be available in BDP-1 as well?

Thank you

Yes, all though it'll be slower on a BDP-1 as the encoding will take longer, roughly 33% slower.

I was able to burn a CD to the internal hard drive. How about a digital download?

Files can be copied to the drive via the network shares the BDP creates. If your not seeing your drive listed, try stopping and then starting the samba service.

Hi Could you advise me as to which type of internal hard drive would be best suited to fit in the bdp-2 size of hard drive type and capacity of hard drive ect

Thanks
