Hi Chris,

Wondering what's required to install an internal SSD HDD in the BDP-2 (cables, drive cage..etc).

Thanks in advance.

You need a Torx screwdriver in size T8 and nothing else. Remove the top cover and you will see a rectangular plate on the bottom inside the BDP-2. Remove the 4 screws holding this on from underneath the unit, toss that plate in a drawer, and use the same screws to attach the SSD. The cables are already inside.

Do be careful because removing screws from the underside without letting that steel plate fall and perhaps damage something inside the device is not so simple with only two hands.

At first I wondered why you didn't look in the manual, but of course this topic isn't there. Originally you were not supposed to do this installation yourself but I believe that rule may have been relaxed.

That's great, Chris. I remember seeing that video but forgot where the link was. Google found other ones with various shortcomings which I'm not inclined to promote.

My BDP-2 sounds great and i enjoy it a lot. However, I have one small problem when I tried to install a internal SSD. I bought a high quality T8 torx screwdriver to open the case by removing the small T8 screws; but three of them are so tied that I cannot remove them! And one screw is started to be damaged so i think it cannot be unscrewed any more normally... Do you have a suggestion to solve this. There are no dealers nearby so it cost a lot of effort to go there for help. Can you help?

Hello..new to the forum and to Bryston Products..
So far I'm impressed.
I hope I'm not intruding on this thread but I'm also in the process of installing a 500G HD, I have opened the unit and noticed I have no metal plate where the HD sits, is this normal now?
I have formatted the drive to fat32, but was wondering can I also upgrade the ram chip to say a 4G from the 2G installed?
Btw those bottom torn screws are very hard to remove, there are nuts holding them on so I guess you need a few different tools to install the HD..
Thanks
Jamie

Thanks Chris..
I figured out how to install and transfer music from my computer to the BDP-2, one thing you guys should do is include instructions in the manual.
But it's all working Great very Happy
