HDMI board firmware upgrades for the 4K and the older non-4K boards are included in the SP3 firmware package but are not automatically applied (programmed) into the HDMI board.

There are two cases when a user may want to consider changing (updating) the HDMI firmware:

1) SP3 has the new HDMI 4K capable board installed and the SYSTEM SETUP-->TESTS-->SYSTEM STATUS-->HDMI VERSN shows
00xx2229 (where xx is anything). In this case the board firmware can be upgraded to 00xx222A adding one extra 4K 60Hz mode capabilty.

To reprogram the HDMI firmware version, make sure you are running SP3 firmware u2015.04b or higher (do not execute this on firmwares older than 2015.04b!), then go to
SYSTEM SETUP-->MISCELLANEOUS-->UPDATE MENU

Press (or click on, if using web GUI) the following 3 buttons to unlock this menu, one button at a time in a sequence:
ZONE,DVD,TAPE (you need to do it only once)

Press Surround Mode Left or Right to select option UPDATE MENU USR ("User" partition of the flash file system) and press Right arrow to enter.

Press Surround Mode Left or Right to select option SELECT: HDMI PROGRAM and press Right arrow to execute it.

Wait until it finishes displaying end status (OK etc). It will take about 5 minutes, do not interrupt, start something else and do not power the system off.

(If the menu does not show HDMI PROGRAM option (using 2015.04b) it means that the new 4K board is not present in the system or you have selected FACT instead of USR partition.)

2) SP3 is equipped with an older HDMI board capable of 1080p video modes (not 4K), and HDMI VERSN shows 00xx1023 or less, or 00xx1027

Version 00xx1023 may be upgraded to the recommended 00xx1026 although this is not really necessary since the older firmware version performs almost the same as the 1026. In case of 00xx1027, the system MUST be downgraded to the recommended 00xx1026 because version 1027 has some compatibility problem preventing it from sync'ing fast enough to changing video modes, when source channels are switched.

To reprogram the HDMI firmware version, to 00xx1026, make sure you are running SP3 firmware u2015.04b or higher (do not execute this on firmwares older than 2015.04b!), then go to
SYSTEM SETUP-->MISCELLANEOUS-->UPDATE MENU

Press (or click on, if using web GUI) the following 3 buttons to unlock this menu, one button at a time in a sequence:
ZONE,DVD,TAPE (you need to do it only once)

Press Surround Mode Left or Right to select option UPDATE MENU FACT ("Factory" partition of the flash file system) and press Right arrow to enter.

Press Surround Mode Left or Right to select option SELECT: HDMI PROGRAM and press Right arrow to execute it.

Wait until it finishes displaying end status (OK etc). It will take about 3 minutes, do not interrupt, start something else and do not power the system off.

(If the menu does not show HDMI PROGRAM option (using 2015.04b) it means that old HDMI board is not present in the system or you have selected USR instead of FACT partition.)
