Not sitting stable

I just got a B135sst2 this week and oddly it does not sit firmly. If I touch the top of it then it rocks up and down - like a table or chair with an uneven leg. It's not the shelf it's on as I have tried it on various surfaces plus my 35+ year old Bryston 3B (yup an original with the white button) it is replacing never had this issue. I called tech support and they suggested removing one of the rubber feet and putting tape under it to elevate the low foot. I did put felt under the rubber foot but it wasn't enough to compensate and if I tried to add anymore the screw isn't long enough to thread back into the chassis.

Anyone have any suggestions - maybe tech support can send me new rubber feet to put on? It is frustrating and embarrassing when friends are over to have an expensive piece of gear and have it wobble like an unstable table.

Hi,

I removed the rubber feet altogether on my B100-SST, and put it on small wooden blocks from Cardas (sold by Parts Connexion). Or any wooden blocks that are smooth and evenly cut. No more resonance/instability issues.

Thanks for the input CM. The blocks or maybe even Vibrapod Cones may be a fix. Was your B100 also unstable with the rubber feet or did you buy the blocks to improve sound?

Being really heavy, the blocks underneath seemed to give the B100 better vibration dampening. It wasn't unstable with the stock feet. I actually looked just now, and the feet are still on it! The blocks are thick enough to lift the B100 enough so the rubbers are clear off the shelf surface. I just think wood is a better vibration isolator than hard rubber.

I considered the cones; the weight of the B135 may be a bit too much for the pointy cones. Try the Vibrapod pads, they are circular and designed for different weights. I have them underneath my BDP-1/BCD-1 stack (2 on top of each other!) and no problem there. I really had to remove all 8 stock feet there to fit both units on my top shelf.

Lemme know how it works for you if you go this route.
