I am trying to play some vinyl on a Thorens TD 125 MK II equipped with Shure V15-V MR cartridge through a Bryston B135 3 integratred amplifier. I am using AUX 1/PHONO input.
The sound coming from the speakers is very thin and weak. The amp works perfectly with other sources. Am I doing something wrong? Can this amp handle moving magnet phono cartridge output? The user manual says it can. Please advise.

Hi;

The B135 Cubed can accept a moving magnet cartridge, if it is equipped with the phono option. With this option installed, the Aux 1 input becomes the phono input.

If the unit does not have the option installed, the Aux 1 input is a line level input, and playing a phono signal through it will result in tinny/quiet output. This sounds like it could be the case here...

If you can let me know the serial # of the unit, I'm happy to check our records and confirm whether it has any options installed. It's safe to say that unless you requested the phono option, it likely isn't there.

Thanks,

Mike
